Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog post: Fashion between the panels: The GREAT GATSBY. I’m back once again with the latest installment of this ongoing blog series. This time not only am I taking you between the panels of this classic book and movie , to pull out the inspired fashion and creating new looks. But this time I’m whisking you off to a whole other time period as well. The roaring 20’s , 1920 to be exact , to the era where the fashion was impeccable and the style was undeniable. The style was so fashion forward that the looks from this time period still translate well today. So pull up a chair and stay awhile. Because not only are you about to be styled by JMADDD , but you are about to be styled with roaring 20’s inspired looks as I take you into the fashionable world of The GREAT GATSBY. With that said let’s get started.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

I’m taking you to a time period where style almost seemed to be the requirement, not a lack there of. Where great fashion seemed to be the norm and not just for special occasions. To recreate this look , I didn’t have to tweak the look too much , because then even the fit was well tailored and the clothes were of the best quality . Much like now for a suit to look it’s best , you want it to be tailored to you. If it’s not bespoke then you want it to be altered to look as close to bespoke as possible.

As the saying goes , Real men wear pink , or perhaps Salmon , or even possibly mauve. All variations of the color pink. To recreate this look I went with a single more light color variation of pink , I also didn’t do the look in pinstripes, and instead of the two toned spat I went with a more dressy cap toe cognac color shoe , and topped the look off with a proper topper , the classic men’s boater hat to give you the true authentic GREAT GATSBY feel. I also gave you the look with and without a tie, to show you the versatility of the look.

This next look is one of my personal favorites, and always has been. The look of a cream or off white colored suit is always classic and classy. Not to be confused with a completely white suit. This color takes on a different feel from the normal white. , but much like white there are so many different ways that the suit can be worn. The color combinations are pretty much endless as because both white and off white are both neutral colors that make almost everything look good with it.

In this movie they truly captured the essence of style and quality fashion , it wasn’t just the main character that was superbly dressed , but the supporting cast was as well. Still showing you that during this time period , people took great pride in their appearance no matter where they were going or not going.

These next two looks show you how earth tones, browns and olives , go a long way , when recreating these looks , I used different shades of brown and beige. In the top look I gave you a two toned spat styled shoe that recreates the feel of style from the time period of the 1920’s , then for the second look i went with a double monk strap dress boot in cognac brown , although these two looks both use muted tones , they are by no means plain or dull.

To capture this next look , I went with a double breasted suit in glen plaid , but everything in this suit is in the details. With in the glen plaid pattern you see a red/burgundy stripe that runs through the suit. I wanted to highlight that , so to accessorize the suit , I wanted to bring that stripe to the forefront. To do this I went with a two toned spat in burgundy , and kept the tie and pocket square the same color.

This next look is as classic as it gets when it comes to men’s suiting , no matter what the time period. The navy blue suit is always a major staple that is and should be in any well dressed man’s wardrobe. To recreate this look , I started with a peek lapel navy blue suit as the base of the look , from there I kept it classic. With the two toned navy spat , then added in pops of color with the tie and pocket square.

Now it wasn’t just the men that were style stars in this classic film and during this era. The women were fashion forward and over the top stylish as well. Not sure what I mean ? Well let’s take a look.

Now you see what I mean ? The looks and the image that the ladies of this time period in this movie capture , is pure classy and absolutely regal to say the least. To capture this look , I had to make a few changes. I still went with a halter neck evening gown, but with a more plunging neck line still capturing the feel of the look, and to capture the look even further, I went with bold jewelry accents and an evening sandal that plays off the jewelry.

The next two looks give you a true roaring 20’s feel , the first look is done in different shades of nude or beige. Highlighted with gold in both the shoes and the jewelry. Then the true classic piece in the whole look is the bell hat also done in nude. The second look is truly a recapturing of the above picture. Starting with the cape dress , but I changed the color pallet of the look from off white to navy , and highlighted the look with burgundy accents from the bell hat , to the ankle strap pump , and the major detailing in the watch and the cross the shoulder bag.

To recreate this look I went with a plunging neckline gold dress, that is highlighted in black, a slight change to the original look, but keeping the true aesthetic of the look. Then to compliment the plunging neck line a gold necklace to make use of the open space, then to finish the look off , to twin pearl bracelets and a black evening sandal , the perfect way to finish this look off.

For this look , I started with a floral print maxi-dress , done in black and pink. To highlight this look I went with pink diamond earrings, a rose gold diamond ring . Finishing the look with a strappy sandal , that has a rose attached to it , and a tiny clutch , that is done in pearls.

For the final look , to recreate the look above , I went with the pink floral dress , that I accessorized with a silver evening sandal, a long diamond necklace, the pink laced gloves and a diamond bracelet , to play off the necklace.

Fashion between the panels : Black Cat & Catwoman

Hello everyone out there , as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES and welcome to my latest blog post , Fashion between the panels: The Blackcat & Catwoman. The reason that I decided to do a Fashion between the panels with these two characters is because they share so many similarities. Granted one is from the pages of Marvel comics ( Black Cat ) and the other is from the pages of Dc comics and has been around a lot longer (Catwoman ) their narratives are very similar almost one and the same. So by comparison I’m going to pull the fashion from between the panels for both of these iconic anti-heroes, and with that said let’s get started with…….
The Black Cat :

Much like Catwoman , The Black Cat Ware’s a black catsuit the difference is the white fur trim around the boots and the low cut collar . Other similarities that the the two characters share is they are both jewel thieves and truly most noticeable have a love hate on again off again relationship with a major iconic Super hero as well. When I see characters like this with so many similarities it’s like the comic book label decided they needed their own version of the same character that they could make work just like the original counterpart has for so many years.

Now that we have established all that let’s get back into the fashion , as I mentioned a little earlier , The Black Cat wears her own iconic version of a catsuit. With just a few differences from Catwoman , now to pull the fashion from this comic character that’s where you have to start . Unlike Catwoman her look doesn’t change or variate to much from the first time she appeared in the pages of Spider-Man.

Even though her look has not changed much over the years I still managed to put together two distinct on trend inspired looks that would still capture the fashionable likeness of this character.

Look number one captures the look perfectly, when putting this look together I wanted to , make sure that I even found a fashionable way to capture the fur that appears on the catsuit of The Black Cat . To do this I went with a leather jumpsuit and to go with it a leather jacket that is trimmed in a white Fur like material capturing the true essence and feel of The Black Cat . The next look is more of an inspired look , as in I still went with leather but to capture the look I stayed with the color scheme of black and white. This time I added in a biker jacket to switch up the look a little and went with more of a half boot as opposed to a thigh high boot to finish the look off for a slightly different feel appeal.

Now it’s time to get into our next iconic character…..
Catwoman :

Selena Kyle aka Catwoman was created many years before The Black Cat . She is truly the blue print of what become Marvel comics own version of the master jewel their anti-hero. Catwoman over the years has had an on again , off again love hate relationship with what is probably one of the most if not the most iconic superhero of all time The Bat of Gotham , the one and only Batman.

The Catwoman character is a bit more diverse and well known than The Black Cat. Also interesting the look of the character has changed from time to time over the years as in the color of her catsuit and the accessories with it from the gloves down to the boots. So to capture the fashionable likeness of this iconic character I had to come with two looks that are distinctly different in color scheme and look . Over the years she has actually had more than two different looks but today I’m going to give you two inspired looks that are from her most iconic well known suits over the past few years.

First the purple suit , the purple suit was accessorized with thigh high boots in grey and sometimes in a contrasting purple , the same for the gloves.

To capture this inspired look I went with purple leather pants , a suede purple top , and stayed with purple gloves . The look is finished with a thigh high suede boot to capture the fashionable likeness of this character perfectly. The look had to be done in both suede and leather to perfectly capture the color scheme of this rendition of Catwoman.

Now for the current look of Catwoman and the fashionable looks that I styled that are inspired from her current look. What you are about to see is the newer more now Salina Kyle with a short slick haircut and an more functional suit the biggest most noticeable difference is the completely monochromatic color scheme.

For both inspired looks , I went with a leather jumpsuit in both cases to start the look off then branched out from there using different accessories to highlight and individualize each look , the second look is a little more theatrical yet fashionable as I put in the actual factual Catwoman head piece with the glasses , of course this is purely optional. Either way you look at it all three looks capture the true inspired fashionable likeness of Catwoman.

Well there it is , once again we have reached the end of yet another blog post , The question is are you team The Black Cat or Catwoman , as always I LET YOU TELL IT. While you think about it , I AM JMADDD STYLES and this has been Fashion between the panels : The Black Cat & Catwoman. That’s it for now so until the next time IM GONE….!!!
