Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog post, The Designer’s Spotlight: HALSTON. IM taking you back with this one , I’m giving you STUDIO 54 vibes with this one. I decided for this latest blog post , I wanted to shed a little light on a designer that made a major splash in the industry from the 70’s STUDIO 54 Disco era, but continued to make major noise throughout the 80’s , and the early 90’s when he passed away. Halston was known as one of the GREAT AMERICAN DESIGNERS of the time , he created a look that was synonymous with his name, and even though he passed away , his clothing today still carries on the look that made the brand as iconic then and still is today , especially among those that are luxury fashion enthusiasts today. My latest fashionable production that you are about to have a look at below , will show you the latest from HALSTON , as well as I’m showing you how to style pieces from the current collection. As you can see from the video , the HALSTON brand is still very much around and respected among those that are in the know when it comes to fashion and brands from the past. If you look closely you will notice that the look of the brand really hasn’t changed much from the 70’s era when it first caught fire during that disco STUDIO 54 era. The only thing that may have changed a little is the silhouette of the clothing to give it a more modern cut , but aside from that, the brand looks almost exactly like what made it successful in the first place.

So far as luxury brands go , the price point is not to bad, ranging from the low 100’s to upwards of the low 700’s, not to bad by comparison of most high end luxury brands , it’s fairly affordable to own a piece of this iconic brand. If you are familiar with this blog , then you know that I’m not only a fashion head , but I’m also a comic head at the same time. Since that is the case , sometimes those two creative interests cross paths and make for a fashionably inspired mashup. In this case the fourth installment of The Women of Marvel, for this on going blog title, each time I take three or four different comic book heroines and show you how fashionable inspiration can be gained from how the character looks in her signature comic appearance. For the fourth edition of this blog post I’m you to enhance your style by being inspired from four new comic book heroes. Those being , MS. MARVEL , ELEKTRA , and THOR ( Jane Foster ). Fashion between the panels: BEAT STREET.

Hello everyone out there , as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , & you are currently reading my latest blog post. Fashion between the panels: BEAT STREET , for this installment of Fashion between the panels, I am once again taking you on a journey between the panels of yet another film classic ( BEAT STREET ) , and pulling out the fashion to show you just how the looks from this film of yesterday, can still be fashionable and relevant today. This film was ground breaking when it hit theaters on ( June 8 , 1984 ) , because it was among the first films to bring the culture of Hip Hop , to the big screen for the masses to see and appreciate. But along with bringing you the culture of Hip Hop , it gave you a broader view of what is encompassed in the culture of Hip Hop. Meaning the importance of the DJ , the then fascination with the art of street dancing aka ( Breakin ) or Break Dancing. But the hidden gem in the film was the unique fashion and style that was associated with being an MC , DJ , or a kid that had killer Street dance moves. It was the beginning of true Street Style or what is now called Streetwear. A form of fashion that would later take the fashion industry by storm and eventually become a major financial stake in the fashion game. Once Streetwear and Street Style , caught the eye of the masses their was no slowing down , it would only get bigger , just as big if not bigger than the other components of this thing this phenomenon that we call Hip Hop . That is the backdrop of this new blog/vlog , going between the panels of this movie and bringing back the Street Style of then , and showing you how that same look translates to now. The Fashion follow up : How to Rock your BERKINSTOCK’s

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog/vlog post : The Fashion follow up : How to Rock your BIRKENSTOCK’s. Even though we are fast approaching the end of the summer season , I couldn’t let the time pass without hitting you with one last summertime trend. Now the BIRKENSTOCK sandal is by no means a new shoe , in fact it has been around for many years for those that are hardcore sandal enthusiasts. I have to say that I have always been aware of this brand , but it has always flown just below my fashionable radar. The crazy part about that is I’m a fan of wearing sandals as an alternative means to always throwing on a pair of sneakers, boots, or casual shoes or even sometimes dress shoes. But it was when my wife came to me and stated that she wanted a pair of BIRKENSTOCK’s that I decided to take a closer look at the brand. Admittedly enough, when she first said it , I kind of poked fun at her for wanting this old school hardcore sandal. However I still was intrigued as to why the sudden fascination, so I started noticing the sandals being worn by a variety of people , both celebrities and non celebrities. Then I saw how menswear retail establishments like Mr. Porter was carrying the sandal for one of it’s hot shoes of the summer, the same for various womenswear retail establishments as well.

So I guess you could say that I was late to the party with this one. But that’s ok , because now this classic sandal is way up on my fashionable radar , so much so that I had to write about it. That’s not all though, I had to find ways to style the sandals for both men’s and women’s looks. The staying power of a streetwear brand: LRG : Lifted Research Group.

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and this is my latest blog post : The staying power of a streetwear brand: LRG ( Lifted Research Group ) . Today I am talking about something that is near and dear to me in the world of fashion , what is that you may ask ? STREETWEAR , why streetwear? Well it’s because that’s where I got my start in the industry, right about the time when streetwear was on the rise and everyone wanted a piece of it. When I came in Fubu was starting to blow up major , and many other brands with it such as Karl Kani and Maurice Malone. Las Vegas was the place to be to display your brand and the competition was thick. Everyone seemed to be throwing their hat into the streetwear fashion ring, including myself. But that’s another story for another blog post. When it comes to a streetwear brand, not many stand the test of time or have a very long run , for a number of reasons from funding to bad management to not having the right formula for longevity. So when a brand comes along that does stand the test of time, that brand has what I call staying power and LRG has demonstrated over the years that it had what it took to be one of those brands that could stand the test of fashionable time , due to it’s versatility and ability to change with the times and the trends without skipping a fashionable beat.

This is Jonas Bevacqua , the cofounder and original designer of the LRG brand , before passing away in 2011. I know each time that I had ever seen or ran into him at an event or fashion convention, he showed that he lived the brand, he was as much of brand within himself as the actual clothing, which is what helped sell the brand and caused everyone else to want to have a piece of the brand or the lifestyle synonymous with the brand. The fact that the brand still continues to work and sell after his death is proof that he did a good job of selling the LRG style and Lifestyle. The brand did something that most brands in the streetwear genre had not accomplished , that was bring together two different worlds. A combination of Skate Kid and streetwear style all under one stylish roof. However I can show you better than I can tell you. Let’s take a look at The Lifted Research Group. Well there it is, we have just reached the end of yet another blog post, and I’m pretty sure after looking at the above presentation you can see how the brand has managed to stand the fashionable test of time and still be going strong with a loyal fan and customer base that has kept it going since it’s start in 1999 , and that’s a long time to last in the streetwear game.
