Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog post: Fashion between the panels: The GREAT GATSBY. I’m back once again with the latest installment of this ongoing blog series. This time not only am I taking you between the panels of this classic book and movie , to pull out the inspired fashion and creating new looks. But this time I’m whisking you off to a whole other time period as well. The roaring 20’s , 1920 to be exact , to the era where the fashion was impeccable and the style was undeniable. The style was so fashion forward that the looks from this time period still translate well today. So pull up a chair and stay awhile. Because not only are you about to be styled by JMADDD , but you are about to be styled with roaring 20’s inspired looks as I take you into the fashionable world of The GREAT GATSBY. With that said let’s get started.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

I’m taking you to a time period where style almost seemed to be the requirement, not a lack there of. Where great fashion seemed to be the norm and not just for special occasions. To recreate this look , I didn’t have to tweak the look too much , because then even the fit was well tailored and the clothes were of the best quality . Much like now for a suit to look it’s best , you want it to be tailored to you. If it’s not bespoke then you want it to be altered to look as close to bespoke as possible.

As the saying goes , Real men wear pink , or perhaps Salmon , or even possibly mauve. All variations of the color pink. To recreate this look I went with a single more light color variation of pink , I also didn’t do the look in pinstripes, and instead of the two toned spat I went with a more dressy cap toe cognac color shoe , and topped the look off with a proper topper , the classic men’s boater hat to give you the true authentic GREAT GATSBY feel. I also gave you the look with and without a tie, to show you the versatility of the look.

This next look is one of my personal favorites, and always has been. The look of a cream or off white colored suit is always classic and classy. Not to be confused with a completely white suit. This color takes on a different feel from the normal white. , but much like white there are so many different ways that the suit can be worn. The color combinations are pretty much endless as because both white and off white are both neutral colors that make almost everything look good with it.

In this movie they truly captured the essence of style and quality fashion , it wasn’t just the main character that was superbly dressed , but the supporting cast was as well. Still showing you that during this time period , people took great pride in their appearance no matter where they were going or not going.

These next two looks show you how earth tones, browns and olives , go a long way , when recreating these looks , I used different shades of brown and beige. In the top look I gave you a two toned spat styled shoe that recreates the feel of style from the time period of the 1920’s , then for the second look i went with a double monk strap dress boot in cognac brown , although these two looks both use muted tones , they are by no means plain or dull.

To capture this next look , I went with a double breasted suit in glen plaid , but everything in this suit is in the details. With in the glen plaid pattern you see a red/burgundy stripe that runs through the suit. I wanted to highlight that , so to accessorize the suit , I wanted to bring that stripe to the forefront. To do this I went with a two toned spat in burgundy , and kept the tie and pocket square the same color.

This next look is as classic as it gets when it comes to men’s suiting , no matter what the time period. The navy blue suit is always a major staple that is and should be in any well dressed man’s wardrobe. To recreate this look , I started with a peek lapel navy blue suit as the base of the look , from there I kept it classic. With the two toned navy spat , then added in pops of color with the tie and pocket square.

Now it wasn’t just the men that were style stars in this classic film and during this era. The women were fashion forward and over the top stylish as well. Not sure what I mean ? Well let’s take a look.

Now you see what I mean ? The looks and the image that the ladies of this time period in this movie capture , is pure classy and absolutely regal to say the least. To capture this look , I had to make a few changes. I still went with a halter neck evening gown, but with a more plunging neck line still capturing the feel of the look, and to capture the look even further, I went with bold jewelry accents and an evening sandal that plays off the jewelry.

The next two looks give you a true roaring 20’s feel , the first look is done in different shades of nude or beige. Highlighted with gold in both the shoes and the jewelry. Then the true classic piece in the whole look is the bell hat also done in nude. The second look is truly a recapturing of the above picture. Starting with the cape dress , but I changed the color pallet of the look from off white to navy , and highlighted the look with burgundy accents from the bell hat , to the ankle strap pump , and the major detailing in the watch and the cross the shoulder bag.

To recreate this look I went with a plunging neckline gold dress, that is highlighted in black, a slight change to the original look, but keeping the true aesthetic of the look. Then to compliment the plunging neck line a gold necklace to make use of the open space, then to finish the look off , to twin pearl bracelets and a black evening sandal , the perfect way to finish this look off.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

For this look , I started with a floral print maxi-dress , done in black and pink. To highlight this look I went with pink diamond earrings, a rose gold diamond ring . Finishing the look with a strappy sandal , that has a rose attached to it , and a tiny clutch , that is done in pearls.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

For the final look , to recreate the look above , I went with the pink floral dress , that I accessorized with a silver evening sandal, a long diamond necklace, the pink laced gloves and a diamond bracelet , to play off the necklace.

Fashion between the panels: The Women Of Marvel: Pt 3.

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES and I would like to welcome you to my latest blog post. This is the third installment in an ongoing series. Fashion between the panels: The Women of Marvel: Pt 3. The fashionable inspirations for this blog post are Monica Rambeau ( Captain Marvel ) , Sue Storm ( The Invisible Woman ) and Mystique. I am going to take you on a fashionable journey between the panels , to come back out with new inspired looks , that have been inspired from each of these comic book heroines. So as always pull up a chair and stay awhile cause You are about to be styled by JMADDD. Now let’s get started right here with….

Monica Rambeau ( Captain Marvel)

To get this fashionable journey started , I’m going to get started with Monica Rambeau , or Captain Marvel. I did a previous blog post where I used Carol Danvers also Captain Marvel as the backdrop or inspiration for some newly inspired looks. For that version of Captain Marvel , I worked with the red and blue color ways to highlight the look that Carol Danvers has become famous for over the years. In that same blog post , I briefly touched on The Captain Marvel that is Monica Rambeau , the first black Captain Marvel . So I wanted to make sure to come back to this character , and expand a little more on drawing fashionable inspiration from her.

With each of these looks , I stuck with the classic ever popular black and white color scheme, that Monica Rambeau was best known for. Aside from this , black and white is always a good color combo to work with. But this is the original version of this comic book character , over the years, she has taken on a more modern look.

As you can see the color scheme is still the same , but now she adds in a trench coat and a slight change of shoe. So let’s see what kind of look I pulled from between the panels to capture the fashionable likeness of the new version of Monica Rambeau.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

I still kept with the main staple of the look , being the black leather pants, then from there I added in a trench coat to the look and a black and white two toned body suit , and switched out the white boots and pumps for a black boot , creating a more active wear feel , capturing the fashionable likeness in a totally different way.

Drawing fashionable inspiration from Captain Marvel , I have just pulled three different looks from between the panels or in this case comic book panels. Now let’s move into the next fashionable likeness that I’m going to use for fashionable inspiration, and that is going to be ……

Sue Storm ( The Invisible Woman)

When it comes to styling looks that are fashionably inspired by a character like Sue Storm , the first thing you have to do is think along the lines of a monochromatic color scheme , and if that is the case , how to do this and still make the look pop is the real challenge. So how would that be done ? Let’s see.

As you can see the top look is the more monochromatic look , I went with a silk blouse or more less a silk dress shirt. The look is accented with a blue face watch , an ankle boot and a belt combination bag that is two toned royal blue and black to really set the look off. Monochromatic looks have really become popular over the last few years so this look keeps you on trend. The next look doesn’t give you the same monochromatic feel , it gives you different shades of blue that still blend together well to make a cohesive look, blending denim with a powder blue tailored dress pant. Finishing the look off with a suede ankle boot , a gold and blue bag , then accenting the look with a blue watch of a different shade trimmed in gold , bringing the entire look together. Then the final look is the same as the first , I just switched out the shoes to a royal blue pump giving the look a slightly different feel. These are the looks that are fashionably inspired from Sue Storm, The Invisible Woman. That brings us to our last subject for inspiration , in this third installment of The Women of Marvel series, Mystique.

Mystique.

If you really take a good look at this fan favorite super heroine, the comic version is in actuality already fashion forward. She wears a body con white dress , that takes on a leather appearance. Then she wears long elbow length white leather gloves and always has on white leather boots. She has been fashion forward for many years. But how can this look be translated to look fashionable outside of the comic panels ? Well let’s see.

To translate this look , I gave you three different looks that all use white leather . The first two looks are white leather dresses with a blue motorcycle jacket to put you in the mindset of the Mystique color scheme. Both looks are finished off with a white ankle boot that both remind you of the boots that she is so famously known for. Then the third look I gave you the white leather pants option , with a white or cream graphic t-shirt , giving you even more of a fashion forward rocker sheik look , that perfectly captures the fashionable likeness of Mystique. Then each look also includes jewelry accessories to make the looks pop just a little more.

Well there it is , once again we have come to the end of yet another blog post, I hope you have enjoyed reading it , just as much as I enjoyed presenting it. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and this has been Fashion between the panels: The Women of Marvel: Pt 3. Keep your eyes open for Pt 4 coming soon. That’s it for now , so until the next time…IM GONE…!!!..

Fashion between the panels: The women of Marvel: Part 2.

Fashion between the panels : The women of Marvel : Part 2.

Hello everyone out there , as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog post . Fashion between the panels : The women of Marvel : Part 2 , it’s the second installment of the women of Marvel series . Picking back up where I left off with four more comic-book heroines , to draw fashionable inspiration from , developing new fashionably inspired looks based on and inspired by various ways each character looks in the pages of your favorite comics . For part one I used Storm , Jubilee, Jean Grey and Rogue as the fashionable inspiration and backdrop for the looks being styled . For part two the fashionable inspiration will come from Misty Knight , The Black Widow , Ms. Marvel and Medusa . With that said it’s time to get started , keep your eyes moving so you don’t miss not one fashionable detail of how I build and style these new looks based on each one of these characters. Starting with…..

Misty Knight :

Misty Knight is a very interesting character, because she kind of reminds you of a modern day version of a character from the blaxploitation films of the late 60’s and early 70’s era , drawing inspiration from iconic characters like Foxy Brown and Cleopatra Jones.

She has been drawn slightly different over the years , but the basic blue print of this comic book hero has stayed the same making her a great source of fashionable inspiration.

Starting with her signature red leather suit , and from a trend perspective leather is going to be hotter this season than it’s ever been , so that is where we can get started styling new looks based on her bold red leather suit.

The first look is more on the dressy side as the look starts with a leather blazer , and to from there the matching leather pants and to highlight the look even better a fitted mock neck sweater in cream which plays off the red color perfectly. The look is finished out with a red ankle boot and gold cuff bracelet , creating a true fly girl look . The second look is a little more on the sporty side , still using the bold look of red to capture the fashionable likeness of Misty Knight . But this look is a little more youthful , starting with the red designer joggers with a bold red moto-style jacket to set the look off and then completing the look with still a cream top but a more body conscious crop tank top and gold cuff bracelet and still using the same red ankle boot.

Then there is this look , where she goes from an all red leather look to a blue and red color scheme. This look could be interpreted in several different ways for fashionable inspiration to build a new look .

To capture this look , I stayed with the red and blue color scheme, but ventured out from using leather. The first look truly captures the new look of the character, using a blue and red jumpsuit with accents of white , to highlight the look even more , the face shield style sunglasses, gold cuff bracelet and finishing the look with a navy blue instead of red ankle boot. For the last look I took a more dressy casual approach, this time using a red high neck blouse, complimented and paired with a tailored dress pant or trouser . Then to finish the look out a gold and red watch with a multi colored cuff bracelet then going back to the red ankle boot with a slightly more sleek look to it to better suit the dress trouser , capturing the fashionable likeness of Misty Knight.

Black Widow :

When it comes to The Black Widow or Natasha Romanoff , there are many different adaptations of the character, be it the way she looks on the big screen with Scarlet Johansson’s live adaptation of the character or the classic way she looks in the comic books.

No matter which adaptation of the character you are looking at , you will usually always see her in the signature one piece catsuit or tactical suit that she has been so well known for over the years . This look has also maintained it’s fashionable relevance over the years as well , making it great source of fashionable inspiration to build several looks from.

So that’s where we will start , these first two looks truly capture the look of The Black Widow , For both of these looks I utilized the ever trendy one piece catsuit or jumpsuit in black . For the top look a more traditional style of catsuit made in a more stretch knit fabric with the belt attached that is very reminiscent of the belt that you often see on the character in various adaptations. To compliment the look , I used a leather black and gold clutch, fitted leather gloves and a knee high leather boot , finishing the look with one gold cuff bracelet. The second look is done in leather , once again using a catsuit, but for this look I went with two gold cuff bracelets for each wrist , the leather gloves , and instead of the knee high boot I went with a more calf high half boot creating a slightly different look.

For these last two looks , I decided to capture the look in a slightly different way. Instead of going with the signature catsuit look , opted to go with separates that still capture the same fashionable likeness. As always the look is done in all black but it’s the details that really bring the look home. In the first look , I went with a turtleneck and tailored dress pant but added a gold chain style belt to capture the feel of the belt that Natasha Romanoff is known for . Finishing the look with a square heel ankle boot and cross body bag. For the second look I went with a one piece leather look onesie and a machined denim leather look pair of jeans . The gold belt and for an even more slightly different option the black pump. Then once again to finish the look another cross body bag , perfectly capturing the fashionable likeness of Natasha Romanoff , The Black Widow.

Ms. Marvel :

Ms. Marvel is an interesting character to use as fashionable inspiration, because there are three different adaptations of the character. There two different depictions of Ms. Marvel , then there is Captain Marvel whom she would later become.

These first two looks are inspired from the most well known 90’s adaptation of Carol Danvers , or Ms. Marvel. Her look at the time was a black onesie, thigh high boots and a red sash as a belt a signature piece that would stay with her. To capture the fashionable likeness of this look , I went with black leather shorts, and a leather tank. But as I often say the small details are always important. This adaptation of Carol Danvers has a lightning bolt down the middle of her suit. To capture this I used a gold chain that was complete with a gold and diamond in crusted lighting bolt , then to finish the look the leather side zip thigh high boot and the red leather tie up belt .

This next look captures the earlier late 60’s through the 80′ s adaptation of the character, that would later flip flop back and forth through the 80’s and 90’s . For this look I went with a more trendy sporty approach to the look. Starting with the red onesie and denim shorts , but once again the attention is in the details. This version of the character has a gold star on her suit and instead of a red sash for a belt , it’s now more like a scarf . So to capture this I went with a gold chain but this time complete with an identical gold star . Then to finish the look , the sock sneaker in red and blue to set off the whole color scheme.

Then this last look is inspired from what Ms. Marvel would later become after she took up the mantle of the all new version of Captain Marvel. For this look the one piece denim jump suit in blue , perfectly accented with the red leather belt , jacket and knee high peep toe boot trimmed in gold perfectly capturing the fashionable likeness of Carol Danvers , Ms.Marvel / Captain Marvel.

Medusa:

We have almost reached the end , but we have one last heroine to capture , she is Medusa of the Inhuman’s , over the years no matter how this character has been adapted over the years , the details always stayed the same from the signature two shades of purple suit and her always identifiable long red hair.

For the first look , keeping it two shades of purple , I started with a dramatic blouse , then from there a purple leather pant then a contrasting darker purple almost burgundy ankle boot cross body bag and light purple gloves.

Then for the second look , once again I went dressy casual or better yet business casual for the look . Starting with a button up dress shirt , then a purple trouser , and to finish the look, the darker purple accents for the boots and bag.

Then for this last look , still keeping it purple, the look is styled starting with a short leather purple one piece romper. From there the darker purple contrast comes in with the boots , the watch , and bag. Then finishing the look with a gold bracelet. Perfectly capturing the fashionable likeness of Medusa.

Well there it is , we have just reached the end of yet another blog post, I hope that you have enjoyed reading it , as much as I have presenting it. I AM JMADDD STYLES and this has been Fashion between the panels : The women of Marvel: Part 2 . That’s it for now , so until the next time…IM GONE.!!!..

Fashion between the panels: The women of Marvel : Part 1.

Fashion between the panels: The women of Marvel: Part 1.

Hello everyone out there as always it’s good to see you , I AM JMADDD STYLES and I’m back with my latest blog post, Fashion between the panels : The women of Marvel: Part 1 . For this blog post , im going to go between the panels of Marvel Comics and draw style inspiration from The women of Marvel. For part one of this blog post The women of Marvel that I’m using for the backdrop of this blog post all come from the pages of The X-MEN. To get more specific : Storm , Rogue , Jean Grey , and Jubilee . So right about now , it’s time for me to put on my Fashion Stylist hat and create new looks based on the looks of these characters. With that said , let’s get started with….

Jubilee :

Jubilee is one of the younger members of The X-MEN , but she is a great character to draw style inspiration from because of her cool look , especially for the fact that she wears such vibrant colors that are very much trend worthy. The first look of hers that I’m going to use to draw style inspiration from is her original look , that consisted of a bold yellow trench , blue jeans and a pink top with the signature pink sunglasses. For this look I went with a full length yellow leather trench coat , as the center piece of the look . From there I used a pink crop top sweater and a lighter washed denim , a pink calf high boot to add more appeal to the look then finished the look off with pink sunglasses and gloves , the color scheme is not something that most would think of right off the back but when you look at it , all the colors blend. And come together perfectly. For the next look , I decided to go with Jubilee’s more new look , the trench coat had not changed as that is the true signature of the character, but the rest of the look has changed to a black jogging suit , with black gloves and boots. For this look I went with a more non conventional leather trench coat that had more of a sporty look to it to go with the more activewear style of the character. The first look is started from a jump/jogging suit that is sleeveless but still takes on the track suit look , then I went with two different styles of boots one is a more combat inspired boot , toning down the sexy but still making the look trendy , the second look uses a heeled ankle boot and the look is topped off with leather goods. For the last looks I went active lifestyle wear separates and once again gave you the option of two different style of boots.

Storm :

Storm often operates as the leader of The X-MEN and has a kind of royal look about her which only makes sense considering she was married to The Black Panther. But that’s a whole other story. For Storm I’m going to build two looks based on two of her different comic book styles , starting with the one you are seeing in the above picture , one of the classic variations of her black suit. To capture this look I decided to work with all leather , starting with the black leather cape as the center piece of the look , next went with a high waisted leather pant and an off the shoulder leather shirt , finishing the look with a gold and black wide belt and a gold and black ankle boot. For the next look , I’m using the characters even more regal /royal look as she goes from wearing all black and gold to all white.

Wearing all white is a fashionable art in itself , knowing how to pull it off in both the summertime and the winter. In this case the look that is inspired from the omega level mutant is a high end winter white look to give you the feel of capturing the fashionable likeness of this character. So many people are afraid to wear white for fear that it is not slimming, but that is far from the truth , you just have to know how to pull it off, but if you don’t that’s what I’m here for. This look is started from the trench coat as the center of the look then over to the leather shirt . All of this highlights the fitted trousers and the white and gold trimmed boot. I often say when done correctly white can bring the best out of any well dressed woman , it’s a real head turner. For men as well but especially a well dressed woman.

Rogue :

Rogue is a very interesting character one that has had different looks and appearances over the years that she has appeared in the pages of the X-MEN . My personal favorite version of the character is the more confident strong yet girly version that appeared in the comics and the cartoon series around about the mid to late 80’s after she had taken on the powers and personality of Ms. Marvel , so that’s the Rogue that I drew fashionable inspiration from. For both looks it was important to start with her signature aviator style bomber jacket from there in both looks I made sure to capture the yellow and green color combination that she was well known for . In the top look though, I went with a knee high yellow boot as opposed to a gold one , to really capture the fashionable likeness of Rogue , from there I went with a brown designer belt to match the jacket once again truly capturing the likeness of the character in a fashionable way.We are close to the end of part 1 of Fashion between the panels: The women of Marvel , but we have one more to cover from the pages of the X-MEN , can you guess who it is ? Well let’s take a look and see.

Jean Grey :

Jean Grey is a very interesting character in herself, complex as well , and arguably the most powerful mutant in the X-MEN . She has taken on many different looks over the years and personalities to go with those looks. But the version that we are going with today is from the late 80’s to the 90’s and somewhat the early 2000’s , I’m also going to style a look that captures her Phoenix force persona also. To capture the fashionable likeness of Jean Grey , similar to Rogue , I had to go with a green and gold color combination. But for this look the gold had to be really played up as a major part of the look , also if you know about the character then you know as regular yet still powerful Jean Grey the persona is more held back not as bold or brash , so for the look I went with a more fashionable yet slightly more subtle look using the gold accents to really bring the look out starting with the gold moto style jacket and ending with bold calf high gold boot to finish the look off. Then there is off the charts powerful Phoenix force Jean Grey , the persona becomes more bad girl border line super villain like and her look becomes just as bold as the character herself .For this look I went with more of a bold fitted look from the suede and leather pant to the more fitted cross body leather/suede blouse. But then to really bring the look home I went with a chain belt and a more sexier boot that goes thigh high to create a look that switches the whole look and feel of this character separating the two fashionable likeness’s creating looks for two different yet fashionable women. But the really interesting part of it all is that both looks are truly Jean Grey or maybe even both looks are truly you , the reader that hopefully has found a new way to enhance your style and look through the fashionable inspiration in this latest blog post. Well there it is , we have just reached the end of yet another blog post , I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it and putting together all the looks. I AM JMADDD STYLES and this has been Fashion between the panels: The women of Marvel: Pt 1 . Be sure to stay tuned for part 2 that will be coming very soon , who knows what comic books heroine I will be fashionably inspired by for that , you will just have to be here for it. However that’s it for now , so until the next time…IM GONE…!!!…
