Fashion between the panels : Boomerang

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I would like to welcome you to another installment of Fashion between the panels. Fashion between the panels: BOOMERANG , to be exact. This time I will be taking you between the panels of yet another movie classic ( BOOMERANG ) and breaking down the fashion to come up with new inspired looks , based around and inspired by the looks in the movie. Showing you the timelessness of good fashion and how fashionably relevant this classic piece of cinema really is. I’m going to take a look at five of the major characters in the film , ( Jackie / Robin Givens ), ( Marcus Graham/ Eddie Murphy) , ( Christie / Lela Rochon ) , ( Angela / Halle Berry ) ,( Mr Jackson /John Witherspoon) , and ( Strange’/ Grace Jones ). Each of these characters were very much fashionably noteworthy in their own way in the movie. With that said let’s get started.

Christie / Lela Rochon.

Let’s start right here with Christie/ Lela Rochon , when you looked at her character, you got a vibe of pure sexy but effortless, basically she had great date night style. With the halter neck body-con dress that she wore in this scene. This look is very much timeless as in it could still be worn today. But let’s take a look at how this look would translate today to really make it on trend for right now.

To translate this look for today , I kept the basic color of the dress being purple , with a slight pink hew. But I changed the details. The first option being a little closer to the look that was actually worn in the movie. A more sexy cocktail halter neck dress , but I added a long gold chain, a floral summer bag , a bangle bracelet with multi colored stones to highlight the dress color and the look is finished with a perfect opened toe sandal in a contrasting pink with hints of purple. The second look is also a halter neck dress , but a little more on the elegant side as the length is longer. I kept most of the accessories the same , but changed the shoes to a more elegant gold sandal to better suit the dress.

Jackie/ Robin Givens & Marcus Graham / Eddie Murphy.

Throughout this blog post , we are going to come back to Jackie and Marcus a few times , here I’m going to start breaking down their looks. Now keep in mind that this movie came out in the 90’s but once again the looks still translate well today.

This is truly a timeless look , navy blue suit with a grey mock neck , this look can go a long way. To translate this look better for now , I gave you more of a tailored suit look , as the suit being worn in this scene is a little more on the unconstructed side , as a lot of clothing in the 90’s was. To complete the look I went with a blue cap-toe shoe and a matching belt. The look easily goes from the boardroom to a night out.

This look being worn by Jackie / Robin Givens , like most of the looks that she wore in the movie or all the looks she wore in the movie are truly timeless. She for the most part wore classic women’s suits , that took on the appearance of the ever on trend Channel suit. But let’s see how this look would translate today.

Now for this look I made a few changes but still managed to keep the timelessness of the original look. I kept the look in green , but did not go with a check pattern. Instead I went with a solid patternless look. That almost has the same feel as the original. also instead of a overtly sexy shoe, I went with a more subdued pump in a neutral color and a contrasting brown cross body bag.

The looks being captured above that are being worn by Eddie Murphy & Robin Givens, are evening wear looks. Once again when it came to the fashion that Jackie / Robin wore throughout this movie was truly timeless, it doesn’t take much tweaking, just small changes to give the looks a more fresher appeal. In this case , she’s wearing a black evening gown , that was done in a more velvety material with just a few accompanying jewelry pieces. I took this look and put it in more of a silk blend evening gown , changed up the shoes to a strappy evening sandal and kept the look of the pearl bracelet and necklace that always looks classy with a black evening wear look. Now to look at the evening wear look that Marcus / Eddie is wearing, of course being that it’s menswear from another era, that was fitted like it’s from another era , I gave you the more tailored tux with the more wide peek lapel in satin. The idea of the look is classic but not the styling or the fit. I also gave the look a shoe change and kept the bow tie in gold.

Grace Jones / Strange’

Grace Jones / Strange’

We couldn’t leave this classic scene of this movie without, styling a more updated version of the Strange’/ Grace Jones look. If you take a good look at this outfit , it’s to far off by today’s standards. The tights , or hot pants of yesterday are still fashion forward today just a slightly different cut. But I changed the waistcoat to a more straight styled vest of mid thigh length instead of the fishnet looking one she wore in the movie giving the look a little more of a regal appearance. I kept the black and red ankle boot but switched up the style of the boot for update purposes. I also added a gold choker to complement the cut away sleeve top , slightly changing the whole look.

Marcus Graham/ Eddie Murphy

Taking it back to Marcus Graham/ Eddie Murphy, The two looks that you are seeing above are not actually different looks. The top look is heading into the office with an overcoat, the second look is what is being worn under the overcoat once in the office. For the top look , I added a more trendy black jean. To play off the black overcoat, kept the paisley scarf slight color change , added a designer belt and a dress boot that could go a long way. The second look is the full office business casual look without the coat. The full look definitely required updating. Changed the lapeless blazer to a different version almost the same jacket with a smaller more sleeker lapel , to modernize the look , but still kept it classic with the turtleneck.

Angela / Halle Berry.

Interesting observation about this movie , Halle Berry is easily one of the best looking women in Hollywood. But in this movie they down played her character up against Robin Givens character, making Jackie come across twice as sexy , while Angela came across more cute , fashionably speaking until the end. If you never noticed , you will see what I mean. Angela’s style in the movie was not as classic and timeless as Jackie’s, so a lot of her looks were truly 90’s. So to capture her looks , I made a few modifications. Starting with this look. I went with a classic button down dress shirt in black with a more traditional collar. For the pants , I went with a more tailored fit dress pant to play up against the shirt, and for authenticity I still added in a Kufi ( hat ) that can be pulled off if that’s the style you project. Also for authenticity added a necklace almost identical to the one Jackie had on in the original look.

Marcus Graham/Eddie Murphy & Angela / Halle Berry.

This look on Angela could have very well been a sexy look , but it was still down played coming across as cute. But when I decided to make the look over , I went with a more sexy appeal. The dress is still made of the same type material, but it’s a little longer and a bit more form fitted. The jacket I added gives you the feel of a cropped blazer instead of looking as lounge like. Then to really add more sex appeal to the look I added in a high healed open toe sandal , to add more to the dress and jacket , then finished off the look with a noticeable yet not overwhelming bracelet.

The Marcus Graham look for this scene could have almost been classified as a new age 90’s leisure suit , I often debated was it a one piece, sweater pants combo done like a lounge jumpsuit. Either way you look at it , the look had to be changed. I still went with a pull over sweater, but opted for the zipper collar instead of the one button on the inside of the sweater. Then went with a casual black denim styled chino in black , a loafer for true Marcus Graham style , then a designer silver chain with onyx piece for a good jewelry accent and finished the look with a designer belt. Although changed still capturing the Marcus Graham look.

John Witherspoon / Mr. Jackson

I could not leave this classic scene in the movie without showing you that I knew how to capture the look of Mr. you have to coordinate, an authentic 60’s / 70’s leisure suit look. The interesting part about capturing this look , you have vintage clothing wearers that search high and low for a leisure suit such as this one with the fly collar shirt and vintage dress boots. Giving you a touch of what is known as Geezer Style.

Jackie / Robin Givens.

I know that I have already said this but , every look that Jackie wore translates almost seamlessly from then to now. The major changes that I made to this look , really were not major. The cut of the jacket for this suit is slightly different as it has a zipper closure instead of a double breasted button front. Also added a cream or egg shell colored hand bag with contrasting pump in the same color way. This look just screams Jackie . Wouldn’t you say ? As always I LET YOU TELL IT.

Angela / Halle Berry.

A little earlier I made reference to the fact that throughout this movie , Angela had a more cute style as opposed to Jackie being more fashionably bold and sexy. But by the end of the film this would change and the Angela character would become more like Jackie fashionably speaking. The look here all business, from the Black dress to the gold heels , then finished off with a gold necklace to fill the open space at the cleavage line of the dress and finished off with a subtle gold earring. Taking Angela’s style to a whole different fashionable Plato , or level. Well there it is , just like that , we have reached the end of yet another blog post. I hope you have enjoyed reading it, just as much as I enjoyed presenting it. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and this has been Fashion between the panels : BOOMERANG. Enhancing your Spring/Summer style : Pt 2 menswear.

Enhancing your Spring /Summer style : Pt 2 menswear.

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I would like to welcome you to my new blog post: Enhancing your Spring/Summer style : Pt 2 menswear. Usually when I do this , I zero in one designer , and build new looks from one collection , but this time I decided to use a few different brands to help you with your spring/ summer style. I know what you are thinking , who is concerned with spring/summer style with this Covid-19 epidemic going on right now ? Seeing as how we can’t go anywhere right now anyway , we’ll that is a legitimate concern , however eventually we will get past this pandemic event and you will venture out of the house once again. So it’s good to be prepared for that time when you can venture out again , and that’s what I’m here for. Now what I’m about to do is help you with some new inspired looks utilizing a few different brands , instead of just one starting right here.

Right where you’re probably asking ? Well right here , if you are familiar with this blog then you know Suitsupply is hands down my favorite retailer to buy a suit from . But what does this have to do with enhancing your spring/summer style ? I’m glad you asked. Wearing a great suit doesn’t just begin and end in the fall through the winter. It’s also a spring/summer thing too, and Suitsupply has just introduced some great new suits just in time for the season. What I’m about to do is give you different ways to style a suit for the spring/summer time of year , now let’s get started.

Ok so what I have just shown you is five good ways to wear a spring/summer suit , the top three looks are one my favorites , the cream colored suit, For that suit I gave you three different ways to wear the look. The first being with a shirt and tie , the look being finished off with a slip on basket weave loafer , the second is more dressy casual , giving you a bold spread collar dress shirt with no tie as the center of the look. Then the last look gives you a more laidback fun way of wearing a suit , with a casual sneaker and cream t-shirt. The last two looks give you a blue linen suit that gives you a kind of denim look to the material. The top look gives you a spread collar dress shirt with a tie and basket weave loafer , the other is the same suit done casually, with a clean white designer sneaker and white t-shirt to balance out the look. To shop these looks go to www.suitsupply.com .

Next let’s look at how to Enhance your Spring/Summer , casually , to get started let’s take a look at styling looks from Ralph Lauren.

Ralph Lauren is probably hands down my personal favorite brand , as you could see from one of my previous blog posts, The Fashion follow up : Ralph Lauren. Why ? You may ask , hands down when it comes to timeless clothing and fit it’s hard to beat Ralph Lauren. I personally will not buy another brand of jeans aside from Ralph Lauren ,because the fit and length is always perfect. Now let’s build some spring/summer casual looks with Ralph Lauren.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

The classic Polo styled shirt no matter what brand should always be a staple in your wardrobe, as the shirt can go along way. It can be both effortlessly dressed up or down. For both of these looks I’m giving the classic Ralph Lauren Polo shirt , the to look utilizing military style from the shorts then the classic army green Polo Shirt. The next look gives you Ralph Lauren jeans put together with a designer sneaker and multi colored Polo Shirt. Then last , you always need a well fitted and tailored pair of white jeans, this look is styled with a classic Ralph Lauren denim shirt and the new yet not new hot casual shoe for summer the espadrille. To shop these looks go to www.ralphlauren.com .

Let’s jump over to Gucci next to see what kind of looks we can build for your spring/summer style. By the way incase you are wondering, you do not necessarily have to use these brands or designers to achieve these looks , these just happened to be some of my favorite brands to both wear and pull a variety of looks from. Now let’s get started.

Gucci being one of the worlds most well known luxury brand’s although expensive, you have to think of their clothing as investment pieces , investment in quality over quantity. Because the clothing is so well made as long as you take care of them , you will have them for the duration.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

For the Gucci looks , I kept it simple and stylishly casual at the same time. For both of these looks , once again I used the classic Polo style shirt as the catalyst for the look . As I was saying before no matter the brand your wardrobe always needs a good Polo shirt or three because they go a long way and with pretty much everything. The top look is done with jeans and the second look is done with shorts. But both the shorts and jeans are Ralph Lauren and not Gucci. Showing that brands can be successfully mixed to accomplish a solid look. To shop the look go to www.gucci.com .

For the final look that I’m about to show you , once again I decided to do a brand mashup, some brands just work well together. The next and last look that I’m using to Enhance your Spring/Summer style is going to use a little bit from Louis Vuitton and Tom Ford. Let’s take a look and see how this comes together.

All looks are styled and arranged by JMADDD STYLES.

This is what a high end stylish mashup looks like , for this look I went with another staple that is needed in your wardrobe, the denim jacket. It’s just one of those pieces that never goes out of style and can also be dressed up or down. Both the denim jacket and the jeans are from Tom Ford . Then to compliment the look I went with the classic loafer from Louis Vuitton , I came across these loafers when I was last in NY for fashion week and decided to browse around the LV store. I haven’t been able to forget them sense, to finish the look a classic LV belt to match the loafers. Notice the shirt was kept simple a basic white T-shirt with nothing on it , to build a classic denim look. To shop this look go to www.tomford.com , or www.louisvuitton.com .

One last thing before I go , one more wardrobe staple that you should always have to finish off any look is a nice time piece. It doesn’t have to break the bank , but it should always speak to your style esthetic. Each season or year I always come across a watch brand that usually catches my eye. Previously the brand that impressed me was MVMT and that’s still a favorite for the style and affordability. This season the brand that really caught my attention is Shinola watches.

You will notice that I used these watches in the pics above, these watches are another example of how a watch does not have to be overdone or to flashy to stand out. in fact they look like they could be the more expensive cousin of the MVMT watch. But much like MVMT they have the perfect look to finish off pretty much any look. To shop Shinola watches go to www.shinola.com

Well there it is , we have reached the end of yet another blog post. I AM JMADDD STYLES and this has been Enhancing your Spring/Summer style: Pt 2 menswear. I hope you have enjoyed reading it , just as much as I have enjoyed presenting it. That’s it for now , so until the next time…IM GONE…!!!..

Fashion between the panels: James Bond…

Fashion between the panels: James Bond…

Hello everyone out there as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES, and I would like to welcome you to my new blog post: Fashion between the panels: James Bond . Over the years , there have been many faces attached to the mantle of 007 James Bond. But no matter what face attached to the name , the character was always synonymous with smooth style and great fashion throughout the years , no matter what era it was , be it 60’s , 70’s , 80’s , 90’s or the 2000’s , whatever version of Bond you got they all had and have the same trait impeccable style and always perfectly tailored clothing.

Over the many decades and years that’s been a lot of fashion and tons of style , but today we are going to focus in on the latest and my personal favorite 007 , Daniel Craig . Dressy Bond style :

This is the look that 007 James Bond is usually known for , the well tailored suit , usually black , grey , or a variation of it with a pattern, and occasionally navy or dark blue. The look usually also consists of a high end dress shoe or boot a crisp white designer dress shirt , pocket square , and a plain colored solid tie. The Fashion follow up : Tom Ford.

The Fashion follow up : Tom Ford.

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog post. The Fashion follow up : Tom Ford. For those not too familiar this fashion/style blog site , each time I continue the Fashion follow up series, I’m going back and revisiting a designer or brand that I may have spoken on , in a previous blog post, to give a fashionable update on what’s happening with their brand now and what the brands new looks are , for the upcoming season look like as well as I style looks from the collection, to show various ways to wear the clothing. With that said let’s get started.

Over the last two years or so Tom Ford has taken over as the new CFDA Chairman. NYFW has just ended a little over a week ago, but this year for the AW2020 season , as always Tom Ford kicked the week of shows off with a bang , a visually stunning runway presentation of both men’s and women’s looks for the upcoming season. However this year when he kicked off fashion week , in true Tom Ford fashion he came up with yet another innovative way to show his collection. Instead of kicking off NYFW in NY , Tom Ford decided he would do his runway presentation in LA instead of NY , something that no one has ever seen done before , and I’m almost certain that Anna Wintour probably wasn’t to pleased with his decision, but it’s Tom Ford , what can you do other than attend the show and enjoy it. The decision to have the show in LA was basically based around the fact that the Oscars was happening in LA at the exact same time meaning that all the celebrities would be where he was going to kick off fashion week at, so basically it was a very strategic and well calculated move despite the fact that he did not kick off the shows in NY. If you were in the audience then here are a few of the looks that you saw on the runway for AW2020.

As always Tom Ford never disappoints, he comes with rich fabrics, bold patterns and is one of those designers that does both a a great men’s and women’s line of clothes. He doesn’t shy away from the use of color in his collections either which in my fashionable opinion is always important.

His use of Suedes and leathers and velvets ,of the finest quality not only translate well on the runway but also when the pieces hit retail they look as good if not even better.

For this installment of the Fashion follow up , not only am I going to give you a glimpse at his AW2020 ( Autumn/ Winter ) collection , I’m also going to show you and style looks from SS20 (Spring/Summer) men’s and women’s collection as well.

The SS20 collection has many of the same ascetics as the upcoming Aw2020 collection , which in Tom Fords case is not a bad thing , in fact it’s a great thing, cause it shows the consistency of each of TF’s collections. He doesn’t stray away from his fashionable formula that makes the brand work. Weather it was TF designing fo Gucci years ago , or the current TF brand , he never strays to far from the look that is historically Tom Ford , keeping his core customer base intact all while continuing to gain a new fashionable fan fare in the process. Making it possible for Tom Ford to continue to thrive and be a anticipated line each year and season . Now as I often say , it’s time to put on my Fashion Stylist , hat and show you the now current ready to wear SS20 collection , giving it that JMADDD STYLES touch , showing you how to put what I think are the stand out looks from the collection , both men’s and womenswear together.

TF Menswear :

Now that you have decided to enter the big red TF SS20 door , let’s have a quick look first at the menswear collection from the runway perspective.

Now what you will notice from a runway perspective is that the TF SS20 menswear collection, is not just giving you basic colors or materials , the collection is giving you well done pastel color ways. The collection also showcases these color ways in not only cottons or linens or silk blends , but TF working heavy with pastel and earth tone colors with leather , and suede , both pants and jackets. That was the runway perspective, let’s now get it from the up close styling perspective.

All styling pics are arranged and put together by JMADDD STYLES…

Okay now that you have had an up close look at the TF SS20 menswear collection from the Fashion Stylist perspective, what do you think ? One thing that you have to notice upfront that simply can’t be missed is the undeniable quality and richness put into each garment. But as always… I LET YOU TELL IT… You ready to take a look at the TF SS20 womenswear collection ? Of course you are , let’s have a look back inside of the big red TF SS20 door to get a look at both the runway perspective and the Fashion Stylist perspective.

TF Womenswear :

Good to see that you decided to stay with me , and take a look back inside the TF SS20 door to get a runway perspective of the womenswear collection , and much like the menswear collection, you can’t miss the undeniable quality and richness of each garment. Another thing that you can’t miss is the fact that although a lot of Tom Fords women’s clothing is indeed sexy , but he knows how to keep the look of the clothing sexy but also maintain a level of class with his designs and that’s one thing that a lot of women miss the mark on. Just because it’s sexy does not mean that it’s good fashion and should be worn. TF knows how to put both the sexy and the classy into all of his garments and stay on trend all at the same time. That’s the runway perspective now let’s once again get the Fashion Stylist perspective and a closer look at the collection.

All styling pics are arranged and put together by JMADDD STYLES.

That was once again an up close Fashion Stylist look at the TF SS20 collection but this time I gave you womenswear. You had to notice as I was saying a little earlier , first and foremost the quality of each garment. But also as was said earlier , TF makes womenswear both sexy and classy at the same time , never trashy and always sustainable, so each article of clothing is like an investment in quality and that’s another important thing to understand when purchasing clothing. Quality always beats quantity, just because you can get a lot of something for cheap does not mean that it’s the best way to go. Always invest in more quality pieces that are a little more expensive that will stand the test of time. Not saying that you have to break the bank but always pay attention to quality and that is dependably what each TF collection gives you.

Well there it is we have just reached the end of yet another blog post, I AM JMADDD STYLES and this has been The Fashion follow up : Tom Ford. I AM JMADDD STYLES and that’s it for now , so until the next time IM GONE…!!!… See you next time.

Fashion between the panels: The Joker…

Hello everyone out there, as always it’s good to see you. I AM JMADDD STYLES and I would like to take this time out to welcome you to my latest blog post : Fashion between the panels: The Joker. Just incase you are not to familiar with this particular on going blog series , Fashion between the panels is when I take the frames of a comic book or timeless scenes and characters from a movie and break it down from a fashion perspective. In other words I help you find the fashionable inspiration between the panels and build you a complete image and look based around the characters in the book or movie. Seeing as how The Joker is coming back to the big screen, you know it was time for an all new Fashion between the panels . This time not only am I going to give you the fashionable breakdown of the latest Joker movie , im going to show you how the previous Jokers from the silver screen and television , were also fashionably inspiring as well , starting with the original Joker from the iconic 60’s Batman and Robin show.

More than likely you’ve probably never taken the time to realize that when you really look at The Joker he is in actuality very stylish and his color scheme is really on point. In this case even in the 60’s if you take a good look , you see a well tailored suit with gloves to match. The question is how does that or would that translate into a look that you could actually pull off and feel like you are over the top up on your style game.

I took the original Joker’s look and broke it down three ways. First and foremost keeping the original color inspiration and combination, of green and purple. I broke the look down to three frames just to give you every detail of the look. The look is styled keeping the feel of the actual iconic 60’s character. I made sure to keep the signature purple gloves and the vest , but to make the vest pop , I went with a high quality tweed for the vest or waist coat.

For many years Cesar Romero aside from the comic books , was the first and original picture that came to mind when you think or thought The Joker. That is until about the late 80’s or early 90’s when Batman was about to be reintroduced to audiences on the big screen. Then came Jack Nicholson’s rendition of the The Joker and suddenly the character had a whole new face that would be remembered for years to come. Nicholson’s Joker had an all new yet still comicbook acurate look , however this rendition of the character had an iconic wide brim hat.

To capture or style this look , I started the look with the wide brim hat. But instead of making it purple , the look is styled with a black version and matched it with the all new Saint Laurent dress boot. Of course I had to keep the signature purple suit , but this time no vest and I went with the orange shirt to capture the true essence of the Jack Nicholson Joker with the signature hat.

For many years Nicholson’s Joker seemed irreplaceable , that is until the character was being introduced again in the second installment of the newly rebooted Batman franchise . Enter Heath Ledger as the psychotic clown , just when you thought no one could top Nicholson’s or Romero’s version of the character . Ledger did just that , he added an all new look and even fresher take on The Joker ,

Heath Ledger’s version of The Joker, was more on the casual cool side but still fashionable none the less. To capture this look I went with a purple car coat , velvet pants , and to top the look off a green tweed vest and and a multi colored spread collar dress , to capture this stylishly inspired Joker look.

From there came Jarret Leto’s take on The Joker. In my opinion was kind of a lateral move on the character, neither forward or backwards, but still a different take on The Joker. This version was seen in The Suicide Squad movie. Leto’s Joker , was kind of like a modern gangster influenced by hiphop. But once again if you really looked at the characters style , the look was fashion forward.

I really tweaked this look a bit , in my opinion this total look would have made the short appearance of Leto’s Joker even more memorable. I captured the look and built the image based around his signature duster style coat , from there went with a pair of Ralph Lauren pants to expand on the look with a purple cap toe shoe and spread collar casual dress shirt , creating a look that screams Style and Joker.

Well The Joker is back, with a new movie soon to be released and a new actor taking over the mantle of the clown. Joaquin Phoenix is set and ready to hit you with his rendition of the iconic comic villain. He’s got another all new look but from what I can see this maybe able to compete with Ledger’s version of the villain. But notice the new Joker still has a fashion forward tailored look. Now let’s style you like the new Joker.

The new Joker has a total makeover, no longer with the purple and green. The new color combination is burgundy/red with a mustard colored waistcoat and a touch of green in the shirt. Well to style and capture this look , I went with a velvet suit in a deep wine or burgundy color. Added in the mustard wool waistcoat, I gav you two shirt options, for a more subtle look, the white spread collar shirt. For a more bold look traded in the green shirt for a raised print blue spread collar shirt. Topping the look off with a double monk strap dress boot. Once again capturing the fashionable essence of the new Joker.

So there it is , we once again have reached the fashionable end of the line for my latest blog post , time flies when your having fun , after all ( Why so serious ?? ) . I AM JMADDD STYLES and this has been Fashion between the panels: The Joker. That’s it for now , so until the next time… Im Gone…!!!
