The Fashion follow up : Virgil Abloh : OFF–WHITE…
Hello everyone out there as always it’s good to see you , I AM JMADDD STYLES , and I’m back once again with my latest blog post. Another installment in my ongoing series The Fashion follow up . For this latest Fashion follow up , I am revisiting the style of multifaceted designer , Virgil Abloh and his Street Lux Label , OFF-WHITE.
The reason that I call Virgil Abloh a multifaceted designer , is because his style influences are seen in so many different ways ,be it his own brand of Timberland boot , or his own special Nike Air Force one collaboration or his hard to find very limited edition Nike Air Jordan sneakers , and let’s not forget what he is doing over at Louie Vuitton putting his own touch on that classic iconic fashion label.
But we are going to talk about and take a look at ,today is his all new SS2020 OFF-WHITE collection , taking streetwear to another level and esthetic. Yet still giving it sometimes the classic logo heavy feel of vintage original streetwear from years ago when it first hit big on the fashion scene. Virgil Abloh seems to have mastered the technique of making a streetwear that also fits into the luxury high end category. How does he manage to that ? You may ask ? Well let’s have a look at some of the pieces from his latest collection now ready to wear already in retail . I also have my favorite picks from the new line that I will show you how to style and put together a little later in this blog post. So let’s get started with a look at his new OFF-WHITE womenswear line .
When you take a look at the women’s line you will see how Abloh pushes the boundaries of streetwear with giving you luxury at the same time . He gives you classic elements of streetwear such as the look of airbrushing on what is one of his signature blazers for both men and women. Then you will also see a new take on working activewear into the line as well . Now let’s take an even closer look at the womenswear line with what I think are some of the more standout items.
As you can see Abloh covers all bases with his womenswear line , there are many different elements that make up the line , from denim to leather , activewear to casual blazers and form fitting dresses , there is something that can just about fit almost any woman’s style . In my fashionable opinion I favor the look of the womenswear over the menswear cause it offers a little more so far as style and variety goes. But let’s have a look at the menswear line now then I’ll let you decide.
As you can see from the menswear line , he uses some of the same characteristics of the womenswear line , such as the before mentioned airbrushed looking blazers. But with that he is also inculcating elements of classic streetwear with a 90’s influence when it comes to the printed denim and the slightly oversized jeans purposely designed to puddle over your shoes a little. Something you have not seen much of since the tailored look became more popularized in the early to mid 2000’s . Which is more of a favorite for my own personal style, now that I’m at the stage that I am when it comes to my style and what works for me , but the slightly less tailored look may work better for you. Incase it does let’s have a closer look at the more standout pieces from the menswear collection.
Now that you have had a closer look , I’m sure you can definitely see the 90’s streetwear influence in all of the pieces, especially with the writings on the garments and the heavy airbrush effects also. But you get a new school feel in the way that he weaves in the activewear influence much like in the womenswear line. With the menswear looks I also gave you a look at branded sneakers and his special limited release Nike Air Force one sneaker. I’m not totally sold on the entire menswear line , but there are some pieces that I could definitely work into my own closet and personal style. www.off—white.com
